Bookshop closing after 27 years
ELIZABETH’S Bookshop on Rokeby Road will close its doors on January 31 after more than 27 years in Subiaco.
General manager Kim Isaac said they made the difficult decision to shut after the rent had become too high compared to low trade.
“It is hard enough selling books these days without the retail landscape declining like in Subiaco,” Mr Isaac said.
“It is sad, but we hope people will stay loyal to our other locations in the city and Fremantle.”
Toy World on Hay Street closed yesterday and The Glitter Co jewellery store recently posted a ‘closing down sale’ sign in the window.
Bistro de Artistes owner Alain Fabregues said he knew of at least three neighbouring businesses that were looking to move out of Subiaco.
