Man charged over carpark robbery
WEMBLEY police officers’ suspicions about a car have led to a 21year-old West Perth man being charged for aggravated robbery at a Wilson-run carpark in Scarborough in November.
The uniform patrol was in East Perth when it pulled over the car being driven by the man on Bulwer Street about 8.30am last Thursday.
He was arrested and charged by Mirrabooka Detectives with two counts of aggravated robbery and fraud, before he was remanded in custody to reappear at Perth Magistrates Court on February 6.
It will be alleged the man was among a group of four who punched two men aged 18 and 19 sitting in a Hyundai Excel on the car park’s sixth floor on November 24, causing the 18-year-old to be treated for injuries at Joondalup Hospital.
“It will be alleged it was an opportunistic crime, and there were young guys sitting in the car, and they walked over, asked for drugs, and bashed, taking the wallets, before going to the ATM,” Detective Sergeant Tony Walton said.
The bankcard used to withdraw cash at the Glendalough train station allegedly came form one the victim’s wallets.
The three other men involved in the robbery are still being sought by police.
