Getting down to the nitty-gritty
THE Hopman Cup is over but its statistics will be current until the 2016 event.
Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska and Jerzy Janowicz claimed the main prize at the event that attracted more than 95,742 fans into Perth Arena, but American Serena Williams served down the fastest women’s ball at 200km/h.
Famous faces among the crowds included Margaret Court, Alicia Molik, Eamon Sullivan, Blake Garvey and Louise Pillidge and 50,000 country hand-waver flags were distributed during this year’s event.
Nearly 1130 Wilson tennis balls were hit, 163 racquets restrung, 1760 towels including 510 with personalised embroidery used and fans enjoyed 9510 ice creams, 6768 sandwiches and 4600 bottles of water while watching the tennis.
