Even if rent was to drop to $600 per sq m add outgoings and get the foot traffic in Subiaco it would be difficult to sustain any business that depends on walks in. There is a property bubble in Subiaco but the owners aren’t going to get their properties re-valued or the banks will come knocking. The council don’t want to have property rents to go down because if it means a revaluation their rates would have to go down. Business owners need affordable pay-when-you-leave parking for their customers. We need to match Claremont’s offer if we are to be serious to bring western suburbs shoppers back to Subi. That would be a good start from a business owner’s point of view.
