Ev­i­dence stacks up against al­leged thief

A SPEED cam­era snapped a stolen western sub­urbs Porsche al­legedly be­ing driven over the speed limit near Man­durah.

Se­nior Sergeant Kate Vi­vian said it would be al­leged the $60,000 996-model Ger­man sportscar was taken from a Gre­gory Street house in Wem­b­ley on Oc­to­ber 15.

It was found aban­doned in Seville Grove on Oc­to­ber 18.

DNA on a drink bot­tle in the Porsche led po­lice to sus­pect a man who de­nied any link to the car when he was in­ter­viewed by in­ves­ti­ga­tors in De­cem­ber last year.

“How­ever, he was fur­ther iden­ti­fied when po­lice found that on Oc­to­ber 22 the Porsche was in Man­durah, near Lake­lands, and a Multi­nova took a pic­ture of the car,” Snr Sgt Vi­vian said.

An Ap­ple­cross man (36) was charged with car theft and ex­ceed­ing an 80km/h limit by 19km/h.

Nine other charges in­clude breach of bail, crim­i­nal dam­age, threat­en­ing to in­jure or en­dan­ger, crim­i­nal dam­age and steal­ing. He was re­manded in cus­tody to reap­pear at Perth Mag­is­trates Court on March 31.
