Evidence stacks up against alleged thief
A SPEED camera snapped a stolen western suburbs Porsche allegedly being driven over the speed limit near Mandurah.
Senior Sergeant Kate Vivian said it would be alleged the $60,000 996-model German sportscar was taken from a Gregory Street house in Wembley on October 15.
It was found abandoned in Seville Grove on October 18.
DNA on a drink bottle in the Porsche led police to suspect a man who denied any link to the car when he was interviewed by investigators in December last year.
“However, he was further identified when police found that on October 22 the Porsche was in Mandurah, near Lakelands, and a Multinova took a picture of the car,” Snr Sgt Vivian said.
An Applecross man (36) was charged with car theft and exceeding an 80km/h limit by 19km/h.
Nine other charges include breach of bail, criminal damage, threatening to injure or endanger, criminal damage and stealing. He was remanded in custody to reappear at Perth Magistrates Court on March 31.
