Sweet treat marks birthday

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

WEMBLEY cake shop Sugarplum Sweets celebrated a very special 20th anniversary last Wednesday.

As reported in this newspaper, owner Flavia Harris met Luke last July when he was homeless and begging outside Leederville IGA and immediately offered him a job.

Luke, who had been sleeping rough since he was 13 years old, has since moved into his own apartment, qualified as a barista, earned his L-plates and enrolled to finish high school with the help of his “mumma bear” Flavia.

To celebrate Luke’s first proper birthday in seven years, Flavia made a spaghetti bolognaise-shaped cake in the theme of his favourite food and gave out free slices to all her customers.
