PERTH crooner Jake Dennis will perform a series of fundraising shows this week, with profits going to Cancer Support WA, SolarisCare and Cancer Council WA’s Relay for Life charities.

Having performed for more than a decade across Perth with Mint Jazz Band, Dennis said he had a personal connection to the cause.

“Last year, I lost a friend, Kerensa Allason, who gave so much laughter, joy and time to her community as a swimming coach and pool officer,” Dennis said. “She is the first person I’ve known to succumb to cancer and I hope she will be the last.”

He also spent the past three years working for UWA’s School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Nedlands.

“Every day, I would pass the Cancer Council’s patient house on the way to work and be reminded of the great work charity organisations do for sufferers and their families,” Dennis said.
