Singing for support
PERTH crooner Jake Dennis will perform a series of fundraising shows this week, with profits going to Cancer Support WA, SolarisCare and Cancer Council WA’s Relay for Life charities.
Having performed for more than a decade across Perth with Mint Jazz Band, Dennis said he had a personal connection to the cause.
“Last year, I lost a friend, Kerensa Allason, who gave so much laughter, joy and time to her community as a swimming coach and pool officer,” Dennis said. “She is the first person I’ve known to succumb to cancer and I hope she will be the last.”
He also spent the past three years working for UWA’s School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Nedlands.
“Every day, I would pass the Cancer Council’s patient house on the way to work and be reminded of the great work charity organisations do for sufferers and their families,” Dennis said.
Shows include Relay for Life Speakeasy Fundraiser at Ellington Jazz Club on Thursday, February 5, SolarisCare Gala Dinner at Joondalup Resort on Friday, February 6 and Cancer Support WA Dinner at Swan Yacht Club on Sunday, February 8.
