Woman ar­rested af­ter let­ter­box theft

A WEST Leed­erville man was wo­ken by a cou­ple out­side his Kim­ber­ley Street home about 3.20am on Fe­bru­ary 11.

Se­nior Sergeant Kate Vi­vian said the cou­ple were rat­tling win­dow, set­ting off the alarm.

The man said he watched the cou­ple go to a neigh­bour­ing park and re­turn with torches to look through his mail­box and take let- ters. It will be al­leged they then went to a nearby Lake Mon­ger Drive home and took more mail.

Po­lice will al­lege de­tails from the stolen let­ters were writ­ten in a note­book car­ried by an East Perth woman (41) and could have been used in iden­ti­fi­ca­tion fraud.

The woman was ar­rested at an Australia Post mail­box in Vin­cent Street, near the Lake Mon­ger Drive house soon af­ter the re­port. A man es­caped on foot. The woman was charged with steal­ing and bail was re­fused.

She was re­manded in cus­tody to reap­pear at Perth Mag­is­trates Court on March 12.
