Events the main game for Cole

BUSI­NESS­WOMAN Re­becca Cole has re­branded her net­work­ing busi­ness to in­clude an events and con­fer­ence com­po­nent.

North­bridge-based Net­work­ing WA started in 2008 and next month direc­tor Ms Cole and her team will host a Perth Tourism In­dus­try Ex­change event un­der their Event and Con­fer­ence Co brand­ing.

“We have grown since our ini­tial days; 80 per cent of our busi­ness is event man­age­ment, so that’s be­come our core fo­cus,” Ms Cole said.

The free Perth Tourism In­dus­try Ex­change event on March 12 at the Perth Town Hall from 14pm in­cludes guest speak­ers Hadrien Le Roy from Google and Perth busi­ness­woman Kate La­mont.

Ms Cole said Mr Le Roy would talk about how dig­i­tal tech­nol­ogy af­fected peo­ple’s travel de­ci­sions and Seg­way Tours WA, which would be ex­hibit­ing on the day, would demon­strate how Perth was start­ing to of­fer unique ac­tiv­i­ties for tourists.

Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaf­fidi is en­cour­ag­ing tourism and hos­pi­tal­ity providers to show off their prod­ucts at the in­for­ma­tion ex­change and train­ing day for the in­dus­try.

“We are ex­pect­ing an in­crease in vis­i­tor spend­ing from $4.5 bil­lion to $7.1 bil­lion by 2020 and in­ter­na­tional tourism ex­port earn­ings to rise from $1.9 to $3.1 bil­lion,” Ms Scaf­fidi said.

“We will also see an in­crease in tourism em­ploy­ment from 36,000 to 47,000 jobs and vis­i­tor num­bers over­all will go from 13 to 22 mil­lion.”
