New depot gives modern local base

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

A NEW $5.3 million St John Ambulance depot in Shenton Park will provide a modern base for local emergency ambulance and patient transfer services.

The depot will replace the former St John Nedlands depot, which had to be moved to accommodate the expansion of the QEII Medical Centre.

St John chief executive Tony Ahern said the Bedbrook Place depot would provide a functional ambulance service to the surrounding community, while allowing for future growth.

“St John has taken great care in creating a depot that is practical, aesthetically pleasing and will serve the community for decades to come,” Mr Ahern said.

“Environmentally sustainable design methods were incorporated in construction, which include energyefficient lighting sys- tems, rainwater harvesting and solar panels.

“Also, the depot was designed to preserve potential black cockatoo nesting trees which were identified early in planning.”

The depot includes a 10-bay garage to be used by various services.
