EX­ER­CIS­ING dur­ing preg­nancy is ben­e­fi­cial and can help with re­cov­ery fol­low­ing labour, says Body Logic Phys­io­ther­apy phys­io­ther­a­pist Chloe Ser­rao.

“That is why we are start­ing an aquatic class for women who are preg­nant or have re­cently given birth,” she said.

“In preg­nancy, ex­er­cise can as­sist with the man­age­ment of blood sugar lev­els, ges­ta­tional di­a­betes, blood pres­sure and lower back and pelvic gir­dle pain, as well as main­tain­ing fit­ness lev­els in prepa­ra­tion for labour.”

Ms Ser­rao said ex­er­cis­ing in wa­ter places less stress on pelvic floor mus­cles and is lots of fun. Classes are held Tues­day evenings in Mos­man Park. Call 9381 7940.
