Funding to improve health of lake
SOME of the final restoration of Lake Claremont by the Friends of Lake Claremont will be funded by $17,600 from the Swan River Trust and Alcoa Landcare Program.
“It will be for planting more wetland buffer covering 4000sq m that keep nutrients coming in, provides wildlife protection, and habitat for birds, turtles and reptiles,” spokeswoman Heidi Hardisty said.
Restoration work at the site, including the seasonal lake that was an Aboriginal camping area, started about 20 years ago.
Ms Hardisty said about 85 per cent of the work was complete and would be finished in 2016-17 if the volunteer group was successful in getting another $25,000 WA Natural resources Management grant later this year.
