Hot cross bun fundraiser a sweet deal for PMH

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Near You -

NOTHING beats the smell of a freshly baked hot cross bun, except perhaps the smiles on children’s faces when they bite into one, says Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Foundation chief executive Denys Pearce. Bakers Delight franchisees, PMH Foundation staff and mascot Stitches the Bear will hand-deliver hot cross buns to hospital patients, visitors and staff from 9am to 10.30am today. The special visit will launch the official Bundraiser Day this Saturday, when Bakers Delight bakeries across WA will donate $1 from every six-pack of hot cross buns to the PMH Foundation. Funds raised will go towards a PMH research project investigating how adolescents with diabetes tackle anxiety and emotional vulnerability. The research will benefit Bundraiser Day 2015 ambassador Larissa Farr (9), who has a rare form of life-threatening diabetes called diabetes insipidus that stops her body from absorbing water. “We’re encouraging people to stock up on their Easter hot cross buns from Bakers Delight on March 14, when your ‘dough’ can really go a long way to help care for children at PMH,” Ms Pearce said.
