New Broome for lucky dogs

SHENTON Park’s Dogs Refuge Home is starting Charlie’s Angels rescue program to help dogs like two-yearold Quella and other mistreated dogs from Broome.

SAFE Broome President Wendy Roberts said Quella’s case was one of neglect and others like hers had been “an ongoing problem for years”.

“Before Shenton Park came on board in full commitment to assist with taking these neglected animals, this girl may have well been left on the streets,” Ms Roberts said.

Refuge general manager Judy Flanagan has taken in the mixed kelpie-staffy cross and nursed her back to health.

“She had quite a few skin issues and she was quite a timid girl but very social and loves people,” Ms Flanagan said.

“So she was looking for love and attention and we worked with her to resolve some of the medical issues and now she is ready for adoption.”

Ms Flanagan said the rescue program needed community support to help with freight charges and donations for additional medical expenses if required.
