Lonsdale career starting to surge

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Film -

LADY luck is on Insurgent star Keiynan Lonsdale’s side.

The Australian-born actor has hit the big time, scoring the coveted role of rebel Uriah in the second instalment of the Divergent series.

Speaking with Community Newspaper Group on Friday the 13th, Lonsdale said he had not had any unfortunate encounters with ladders or black cats.

“No I am not superstitious; I have been having a good day so far,” he said.

To be on the safe side, he knocks on wood, the sound audible down the phone receiver.

Lonsdale said his experience on the set of Insurgent was a breeze, despite stepping into the series after the cast had already bonded while filming the first instalment.

“The way I would describe the experience is like going to a new high school full of really cool people,” he said.

“I jumped into the deep end; my first scene was just Shailene (Woodley) and I, and she made me really comfortable.”

Lonsdale always planned a career in the entertainment indus- try, but his star is rising faster than he intended.

“I had been auditioning for a while for different roles,” he said.

“I planned on starting small and going bigger, so I thought I would get some TV first, so this has all happened faster than I expected.”

But will Lonsdale be lucky enough to make it back in the next two films in the series?

“I am pretty sure Uriah is in the next one, but I am waiting for the call,” he said.

Insurgent is in cinemas March
