More Easter crisis calls
SUBIACO-BASED Samaritans will have extra people answering phones in its call centre over Easter to cope with an expected increase in calls.
Director Kevin Crombie said numbers tended to spike during traditional holiday seasons such as Easter because vulnerable people often felt more isolated.
“It is at such times that many people reflect on their disappointments and such negativity – especially if individuals are isolated – simply makes the person extremely vulnerable, and they often call us for support,” Mr Crombie said.
The Samaritans service from Subiaco and Mandurah provides Australia-wide coverage. Call 13 52 47 or the WA Youth Line on 1800 198 313.
