THE West­ern Knights Soc­cer Club has signed up sev­eral new play­ers for the 2015 sea­son to com­bine a mix of youth and ex­pe­ri­ence in this year’s first divi­sion team. 2014 as­sis­tant coach Andy Thor­burn has stepped up to head coach this year and said new play­ers like John Mi­gas, Tom South­gate, Dean Thurston and Ross Di­a­mond had joined the Knights from other Perth clubs. “On top of the ex­pe­ri­ence we al­ready have in Ben Coul­ter and Craig Ri­ley we’ve got a great mix of youth and ex­pe­ri­ence,” Thor­burn said. “We came fourth last year and are still look­ing to get back in to the Na­tional Premier League. “We’ll give it a good nudge this year.” The Knights play their first 2015 game against Gos­nells City on April 11 af­ter win­ning the Night Se­ries com­pe­ti­tion 4-3 against ri­vals Dianella this month. The game was drawn 1-1 at full time so was won on penal­ties. “Ev­ery­one’s re­ally ex­cited…the coaches and play­ers, there’s a real buzz around the dress­ing room,” Thor­burn said.
