SUBIACO'S place manager, hailed as the ‘ saviour of Subiaco’, has resigned nine months after his appointment.
The City of Subiaco's elected members’ bulletin last Thursday said Matthew Gould resigned for "personal reasons" and a confidential deed had been signed between both parties.
Mr Gould came under scrutiny in September last year when he cancelled the 15th annual Subi Street Festival due to planning and budget delays.
He was reportedly on a $200,000 annual salary for his role as place manager and running the City-owned events and marketing team Visit Subiaco.
Management of Visit Subiaco was brought inhouse at the City after business-run group Pro Subi wound up May 2013.
Visit Subiaco had a budget of $726,500 for the 2014/ 2015 financial year: $198,000 has been spent on marketing and events, $125,000 on business expenses and $104,000 on employee costs.
