Council plans thank-you party

SUBIACO councillors have joked they might need to book out Subiaco Oval to accommodate a thank-you party for those who campaigned against local government reform.

Council unanimously voted to host a celebration function to recognise community volunteers who “worked tirelessly to ensure the intent of the Dadour amendment was upheld” at a meeting last month.

“This party is a great opportunity to keep up the pressure in terms of changing the Local Government Act to include the Dadour amendment,” Cr Julie Matheson said.

Mayor Heather Henderson said she was planning to hold the afternoon tea at The Palms Community Centre on April 19.

“We thought we would have a little celebration and invite the key players who worked so hard,” Mrs Henderson said. “I think it is important, as Subiaco was at the forefront of the reform in the legal case and many of the other events that were held.”
