360 Degrees of Innovation
What’s on your bucket list? Have you always wanted to go skydiving? Maybe you’ve wanted to swim with dolphins or fly a helicopter? During Innovation Month this April, you will have the opportunity to do all the above for free without leaving the grassed area of the Northbridge Piazza! City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said Innovation Month is about stimulating minds and exposing people to new and different ideas to interact with the universe. “Innovation is not limited to technology. Every day we are exposed to opportunities to become more efficient, smarter, faster and make better use of our environment and the world around us.” In addition to a multitude of free films and activities on offer throughout the month, two feature events will give people the opportunity to identify, share and cross off some high risk, adrenaline pumping activities from their bucket list. For the month of April the Northbridge Piazza will bring to Perth an interactive art installation that invites people to share their personal aspirations, by writing on massive public chalkboard “Before I die” walls. Created by international artist Candy Change, the “Before I die” walls have gained global attention. Thanks to passionate people around the world over 500 walls have been created in 70 countries. On the last weekend of April adrenaline junkies get a chance to fulfil some of their bucket list wishes in an immersive 360 video experience. With a boat, plane and vehicle on site in Northbridge, thrill seekers will be able to strap into a virtual reality device and experience skydiving, helicopter flying or go swimming with dolphins. Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said innovation plays a significant role in Perth’s growth as a city. “The world around us and society continues to change at a rapid pace,” “As we develop as a city we want our community to grow with us so we can all help shape Perth as a stronger, smarter, safer, more sustainable and social city.” Ms Scaffidi said.
