PERTH author Annabel Smith’s book WhiskyCharlieFoxtrot has been chosen by Target Book Club in the USA as their April pick of the month.

The book was originally published by Fremantle Press in 2012 and will be printed in the USA by Source Books after rights were sold at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2013.

It will now have a special print-run of 30,000 copies branded with the Target Book Club logo.

Smith said the news was an honour, as the selection came from a group of Target employees who loved reading, rather than by a marketing team.

“I was thrilled and completely shocked to find out that that they unanimously chose Whiskey& Charlie (renamed in USA) as the April pick,’ said Smith.

“My book sold only very modestly in Australia, 1500 copies, and was shortlisted for the Small Press Network’s Most Underrated Book Award.

“The US publication (with) an initial print run of 12,500 and especially the Target deal, will enable it to reach an audience of the size an Australian author can usually only dream about.”

Smith will visit the USA in June for promotions.
