Kaylia gets another shot at title
KAYLIA Stanton will get one more tilt at an Australian under-21 title.
The 20-year-old West Coast Fever player has been selected in the national squad that will play practice matches against the Australian Diamonds and New Zealand Silver Ferns ahead of the Netball World Cup in Sydney in August.
Stanton has played in the Australian under-21 side for the past four years.
“We had the Nationals recently and it was a bit sad but it will be nice to finish off with warming up the World Cup teams,” she said.
“I’m excited to play against the Diamonds and Silver Ferns.”
The Woodlands resident is the daughter of Olympic high jump medallist Christine Stanton.
“It’s great because she gives me a lot of advice and help,” Stan- ton said of her mother.
Stanton joins Taylah Davies from the NSW Swifts, Beryl Friday from the Queensland Firebirds, Cody Lange from the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Emily Mannix, Alice Teague-Neeld, Liz Watson, Jo Weston and Chloe Watson from the Melbourne Vixens, Kristiana Manu’a from the Magic and fellow West Australian Numi Tupaea in the squad of 22.
Kaylia Stanton is excited to be playing against the Diamonds and Silver Ferns soon.
