WEST Coast Fever overcame their biggest challenge so far this season against the Pulse in Wellington, New Zealand on Sunday and remain undefeated.

Fever beat the Pulse 51-48 in a contest that tested their physical and mental strength.

April Letton, who turned 25 on game day, was relentless in defence, pairing up with New Zealand import Erena Mikaere in the first half.

Letton managed several tips and rebounds down the defensive end against tough opponent Jodi Brown.

Captain Ashleigh Brazill and Shae Brown made sure nothing came easy for the home side’s attackers.

Accurate shooting from Natalie Medhurst and Caitlin Bassett kept the score line to a few goals each way, with the teams locked at 23-all at the main break.

Fever introduced Josie JanzDawson in defence for the final half, with the goalkeeper picking off some timely intercepts to give the visitors a slight edge through the third quarter.

The visitors maintained a three or four-goal lead in the last five minutes, when the lead could have changed with just a couple of turnovers.

But Fever remained composed to get the win.

The Fever play Magic at HBF Stadium this Sunday.
