Marathon effort to help PMH
RYAN Crawford swapped his suit for sneakers when he competed in the London Marathon last week.
The group director of a Leederville property group started running about three years ago and has participated in the Victorian Great Ocean Road and WA’s Cape to Cape marathons.
However, he said the 42km London race was particularly special because it was for Princess Margaret Hospital.
“It’s one of the most popular marathons in the world, there are generally over 100,000 people in attendance between the competitors and the spectators on the day,” Mr Crawford said.
“I was more than happy to run the marathon and raise funds for Princess Margaret Hospital, which is a charity that I am a big supporter of.”
In preparation for the gruelling race, Mr Crawford ran about 56km a week following paths around Kings Park, Burswood and South Perth.
Mr Crawford and his brother raised about $37,000.
