Kids en­joy safe walk

WEST Leed­erville Pri­mary School stu­dents em­braced the mes­sage of Na­tional Walk Safely to School Day last month.

The com­mu­nity ini­tia­tive aims to raise aware­ness of the health, road safety, trans­port and en­vi­ron­men­tal benefits that regular walk­ing can pro­vide for chil­dren.

Pedes­trian Coun­cil of Australia chief ex­ec­u­tive Harold Scruby said un­less teach­ers, par­ents, car­ers and the com­mu­nity got be­hind the event and its ob­jec­tives, the out­look for Australia’s chil­dren was not good.

Stu­dents from West Leed­erville pri­mary also en­joyed a healthy break­fast as part of the cam­paign’s fo­cus on im­proved di­ets.
