Island adventure fun

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

FOR 18 years, the Quintilian School in Mt Claremont has held an annual family camp weekend at Rottnest Island.

More than 400 parents, staff and children took part in the camp from May 22 to 24.

The major camp event is the Golden Quokka Hunt, where staff wear costumes while students try to find them and locate clues to win the golden quokka.

School council member Emma George said the trip was one of the highlights of the school year.

“We are like one big extended family where children, parents and teachers get to holiday together for a weekend at Rottnest,” she said.

School principal Neil Collins said the Rottnest trip was the perfect environment for enriching real life experiences.

“Day-to-day experiences at school must be enriched by real-life experiences and the school believes Rottnest Island is the perfect outdoor environment for this as it has a wonderful array of activities and learning opportunities for primary-aged children,” he said.
