Secret science project for young actor
WITH the script for Tomorrowland shrouded in secrecy, star Britt Robertson had to endure a tricky auditioning process.
Disney’s big budget film, that also stars George Clooney, is an action adventure about a former boy genius Frank (Clooney) and Casey (Robertson), a bright teenager with scientific curiosity, who go on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of the enigmatic Tomorrowland.
“When I first heard about this project, the script was completely on lockdown; no one had read it,” Robertson said. “Maybe six months into being a part of the auditioning process, I finally was able to read the script, which was great because I had a few scenes for auditions that were completely out of context.
“When I read the script, I was so shocked by the fact that it was so different than anything else I had read in the sense that it wasn’t based off a book.”
Robertson said her famous co-star Clooney was a down-to-earth, “cool guy.”
“I’ve always just seen him in movies, so I never really got who he was as a person; he’s so different than I ever would have imagined,” she said. “It’s been really funny to watch him and interact with him regularly and get his perspective on life.
“I like seeing how he draws certain aspects of his own life or his own humour and brings that to his character, but he is very, very different from Frank.”
Tomorrowland is in cinemas now.
