Western Suburbs Weekly - - State Of Union -

WEST Coast Fever head to Sydney this week to play their first finals series, but miss out on a home-court advantage after losing 56-63 to the NSW Swifts at Perth Arena last Saturday.

Fever started slowly in front of a record 9703 crowd, with the visitors scoring the first three goals of the game.

The home side caught up after five minutes, but the Swifts took a five-goal lead in to the first break with consecutive goals.

Erena Mikaere and April Letton had the hard task of stopping sharpshooters Caitlin Thwaites and Susan Pettitt, who shot at 88 per cent and 97 per cent accuracy.

Fever captain Ashleigh Brazill starred in centre and goal-shooter Caitlin Bassett helped the home side get within a goal of their opposition by half-time.

They let the gap slide to four goals by threequarter time and the Swifts got out to a sevengoal lead, which they maintained, with five minutes on the clock.

The teams will battle it out in the elimination final this Friday.
