Beaut bins, scenic shots

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western opinion -

PHOTOGRAPHS of Cottesloe could decorate bins along the beach and the main path to the foreshore after councillors decided to investigate the proposal at their meeting in April.

“You go to other places and see wonderful pictures of the places there, like Margaret River with its beautiful scenic pictures of their bay on their bins,” Save Our Suburb vice-president Patricia Carmichael said.

As part of a renewed five-year contract with bin maintenance company Natsales, councillors agreed the company could be allowed to increase the number of bins from 41 that it has provided near the beach and across the Town since 2001.

The bins have square, metal enclosures with advertising on three sides and a side for litter and council community campaigns.

Staff said the the council would benefit from not having to pay for the upkeep of up to 40 new enclosures costing $95,000.
