Coun­cil has new chief

COTTES­LOE Coun­cil’s new chief ex­ec­u­tive is Mat Hum­frey, who has been act­ing in the role since the de­par­ture of Carl Askew to the Shire of East Kim­ber­ley in April.

“Mr Hum­frey joined the Town as manager of cor­po­rate and com­mu­nity ser­vices four years ago, and his lengthy ca­reer in lo­cal gov­ern­ment, 16 years in to­tal, in­cludes three years as deputy-chief ex­ec­u­tive at the Wheat­belt town of Dal­wallinu, im­me­di­ately be­fore com­ing to Cottes­loe, fol­low­ing po­si­tions at Brook­ton, Chit­ter­ing and Wan­neroo-Joon­dalup prior to that,” Mayor Jo Dawkins said.

At a spe­cial meet­ing last Mon­day, Mr Hum­frey was cho­sen from a short­list of about six, af­ter about 40 ap­pli­ca­tions were re­ceived.

Mr Hum­frey has a five year-con­tract and $195,000 an­nual salary that will be re­viewed af­ter his first year.

Mat Hum­frey has re­placed Carl Askew as Cottes­loe CEO.
