Bakery on a roll in Claremont
NEW Norcia Bakeries broke the mould by opening its first shopping centre-based bakery at Claremont Quarter last month.
Owner Conrad Mias said he was as selective about the look and location of the new shop as he was about the quality of their baked goods.
“We took a look of inspiration from overseas and interstate in what they were doing in the artisan market,” Mias said.
“It is obviously a fantastic central location, but we wanted to take it further.
“The shopfront was designed by Karen Ford and has a true rustic, homely feel. She did a great job, it came up much better than we could have imagined.”
The bakery is the latest addition to Claremont Quarter’s fresh food outlet, following Gourmet Republik, Lucioli and Mama Tran.
Mias said his business development manager Rizza White was currently travelling in the south of France and Italy, researching the latest techniques and baking ideas.
“We bake fresh every day; all the sandwiches, rolls, quiches, pastries and cakes are made inhouse at our Mt Hawthorn location,” he said.
“We make two to three deliveries of fresh products to Claremont every single day.”
White said it was very exciting for New Norcia Bakeries to take the “next step” in opening its third location.
“It’s the first time we have operated from a shopping centre but we are confident that Claremont Quarter is the perfect fit,” she said.
“As we grow, it becomes even more important to us that we ensure we stay true to our origins.”
