Award hat-trick for our team
THE Western Suburbs Weekly received the Community Newspapers of Australia National Best Newspaper Award in Melbourne last Friday night for the third consecutive year.
The Community Newspaper Group publication won the Best Newspaper 30,00050,000 category in the southern division and took out the national prize, which it also claimed in 2013 and 2014.
Judges said the Western Suburbs Weekly had “a nice blend of news and lifestyle editorial which is laid out creatively and with a pleasant style”.
“Excellent photos, good stories and clean design add up to a very complete package,” they said.
Editor Denise Cahill said the Western Suburbs Weekly continued to go from strength to strength.
“We’ve been recognised by CNA for the past four years and we strive to give our readers better content and design each year,” Ms Cahill said.
“It’s an exciting year for us, with the newspaper relocating to Claremont in the next few months to be part of a thriving retail and commercial hub.”
Community Newspaper Group photographer Jon Hewson won the Best Sport Photo category and special publication Perth City Style was named Best Advertising Feature.
