Pic­ture: An­drew Ritchie FOOD­IES from around Perth are in­vited to Farmer Jack’s Clare­mont Quar­ter to meet lo­cal grow­ers and farm­ers who stock the shop’s shelves, at a spe­cial event this Satur­day.

Jack’s Food First will be show­cas­ing some of the fresh­est lo­cal pro­duce from more than 25 lo­cal grow­ers as well as cook­ing demon­stra­tions from chefs Don Hancey and Dan Fisher.

Hosted by food writer Ver­ity James, the Farmer Jack’s store will be full of WA food for tast­ing and pur­chas­ing.

Farmer Jack’s, Buy West Eat Best and the Gas­coyne Food Coun­cil are col­lab­o­rat­ing to celebrate the re­turn of fresh pro­duce from WA’s Gas­coyne re­gion af­ter the dev­as­tat­ing im­pact of Trop­i­cal Cy­clone Ol­wyn on crops.

Farmer Jack’s su­per­mar­kets have al­ready con­trib­uted $100,000 to as­sist the re­gion get back on its feet. The free event is from 10am-3pm.
