No doubts evident for model Thomas
THE elite world of modelling has become a reality for 19-year-old Iona Presentation College graduate Jess Thomas, one of the Top 4 finalists on reality show Australia’s Next Top Model.
Over the past eight episodes, Thomas has been mentored by some of the biggest names in the industry, including fashion designer Alex Perry, host/model Jennifer Hawkins and famous guests.
“I was most star struck about supermodels Linda Evangelista and Alessandra Ambrosio, they’re just amazing women and they really inspire me,” she said.
“It’s been incredible; a normal girl from Perth doesn’t get to do that on an everyday basis.”
Thomas has had to face some difficult challenges throughout the series, such as scaling the side of a building (a ‘vertical catwalk challenge’) where she proved to be fearless.
While many people may think being on reality television may be tense and stressful, Thomas said her experience has been nothing but rewarding.
Having grown up in East Fremantle and Mosman Park, she will always call WA home no matter where her career takes her.
“I always remember going to Point Walter in summer with my family, having picnics and going to Rottnest,” Thomas said.
“It’s my safe place, I grew up here and everyone I know is here.
“I am really lucky because I went to an amazing school and made great friends there. I’ll definitely always keep Perth close to my heart.”
As for winning the coveted modelling contract and prizes, Thomas remains positive.
“I have a supportive family and my friends in Perth have always pushed me in a positive direction, so I’m lucky to have that great support network,” she said.
The last two episodes of Australia’s Next Top Model will air at 5.30pm on Thursday, June 25 and Thursday, July 2 on Fox 8.
