Kids the win­ners of grant

WEST Perth’s Heart Kids WA has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Com­mon­wealth Bank as part of its an­nual com­mu­nity grants scheme.

“It will al­low us to or­gan­ise two to three events which will al­low our clients to meet up, be­cause of lot of them, with their com­plex heart con­di­tions, have self­es­teem is­sues,” Heart Kids WA sup­port man­ager Ce­cilia Dono­van said.

In the western sub­urbs, the bank also gave the Autism As­so­ci­a­tion of WA $9000 and Par­ents of Chil­dren with Dis­abil­i­ties $9900. Char­i­ties No Mat­ter What and Ron­ald McDon­ald House each re­ceived $10,000.

The Princess Mar­garet Hos­pi­tal for Chil­dren Foun­da­tion got $6800 and the Women and In­fants Re­search Foun­da­tion was awarded $7500.

Heart Kids WA, es­tab­lished in 1979, helps chil­dren aged 11 to 17 with con­gen­i­tal heart con­di­tions and their par­ents and fam­i­lies, and has about 1500 clients.

Ms Dono­van said op­tions for events that had yet to be de­cided, but could in­clude mys­tery bus tours, ca­reer ad­vice and first-aid skills for the chil­dren.
