Kids the winners of grant
WEST Perth’s Heart Kids WA has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Commonwealth Bank as part of its annual community grants scheme.
“It will allow us to organise two to three events which will allow our clients to meet up, because of lot of them, with their complex heart conditions, have selfesteem issues,” Heart Kids WA support manager Cecilia Donovan said.
In the western suburbs, the bank also gave the Autism Association of WA $9000 and Parents of Children with Disabilities $9900. Charities No Matter What and Ronald McDonald House each received $10,000.
The Princess Margaret Hospital for Children Foundation got $6800 and the Women and Infants Research Foundation was awarded $7500.
Heart Kids WA, established in 1979, helps children aged 11 to 17 with congenital heart conditions and their parents and families, and has about 1500 clients.
Ms Donovan said options for events that had yet to be decided, but could include mystery bus tours, career advice and first-aid skills for the children.
Heart Kids support manager Cecilia Donovan and family support co-ordinator Maree Green will use the $10,000 grant to organise events for the children.
