A PETITION with 109 signatures opposing the closure of Nidjalla Loop at the intersection of Alfred Road in Swanbourne for two years was presented to Nedlands council last week. Narla Road resident Shane McLay said road safety was their priority and that Swanbourne Primary School principal Lincoln Day was the first signatory. Nidjalla Loop resident John Groppoli said the petition arose from the Town of Claremont’s failure to mention the closure was temporary. “It is totally unacceptable for our safety concerns to be overridden by the Claremont council’s suggestion that we want to preserve our property value,” he said. Nedlands council will consider the road closure next month.
