Fundraiser fills bowls
THE inaugural Empty Bowls Perth charity event raised $13,400 for Foodbank WA last week, says organiser Janet Pyke.
The Dalkeith resident said more than 370 people came to Christ Church Grammar school for a lunch of soup and bread and took home their specially chosen bowl for a $20 donation.
Ms Pyke said the total was boosted by proceeds from an online auction of bowls signed by the coaches and nine players from both the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers.
“All these funds have been donated to Foodbank to assist them with their work in feeding hungry West Australians,” she said.
“The food left over at the end of the day was taken to St Barts House and donated to the homeless.”
