Rates low - Mayor
NEDLANDS rates will rise an average of 2.5 per cent.
Nedlands councillors approved the 2015/16 budget at a special council meeting last week.
Mayor Max Hipkins said the City was able to keep the rates increase low because the cost of operations had been reduced compared to last financial year.
“This is a great result, particularly since we are still running our extensive capital works program addressing the City’s ageing infrastructure,” Mr Hipkins said.
“We’re pleased we are able to keep rates below 4 per cent, which is very low compared to other metropolitan councils.”
