Diabetes centre a big step forward
THE Telethon Juvenile Diabetes Centre was officially opened this month, marking a significant step forward in Type 1 treatment for West Australians.
The Osborne Park facility will provide peer and psychosocial support, information and education, as well as opportunities for the Type 1 community to connect.
Centre general manager Rebecca Johnson said the opening was a success.
“It was a wonderful celebration and a opportunity to particularly thank our major supporters the WA State Government, Telethon and Lotterywest,” Ms Johnson said.
“We offer workshops, camps, community forums and a range of fun social and educational events designed to break down the isolation Type 1 can impose.”
The centre will include a cafe-style kitchen for cooking classes, a children’s play area and six appointed clinic rooms.
