Tonnes of sur­plus su­per­mar­ket food to dis­ad­van­taged

COLES at Floreat Fo­rum has do­nated more than 21 tonnes of sur­plus fruit, veg­eta­bles and bak­ery prod­ucts to fresh food res­cue or­gan­i­sa­tion Se­condBite over the past three years.

The do­nated food equated to more than 42,000 meals.

“The pro­duce we re­ceive means we can show dis­ad­van­taged peo­ple how to cook and pro­vide them with the skills to make their own meals rather than eat junk food,” Su­bi­aco com­mu­nity cen­tre Earth­wise co­or­di­na­tor Peg Davies said.
