Tonnes of surplus supermarket food to disadvantaged
COLES at Floreat Forum has donated more than 21 tonnes of surplus fruit, vegetables and bakery products to fresh food rescue organisation SecondBite over the past three years.
The donated food equated to more than 42,000 meals.
“The produce we receive means we can show disadvantaged people how to cook and provide them with the skills to make their own meals rather than eat junk food,” Subiaco community centre Earthwise coordinator Peg Davies said.
