THE City of Perth has in­vited WA artists to cre­ate unique light­based art­works for Coun­cil House af­ter dark.

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaf­fidi said the flag­ship pro­ject Light­house was a new chap­ter in com­mis­sioned tem­po­rary public art.

“Public art de­liv­ers mem­o­rable ex­pe­ri­ences, adding to the at­trac­tive­ness and vi­tal­ity of our city,” she said.

Artists can mix colours, pat­terns and rhythm to cre­ate a se­ries of se­quences us­ing the ex­ist­ing light­ing in­fra­struc­ture, which in­cludes more than 22,000 energy-ef­fi­cient LED lights on Coun­cil House.

The art­works will be dis­played in Oc­to­ber and Novem­ber.

The City is also seek­ing pro­pos­als for Transart: Ex­per­i­men­tal, a public art ini­tia­tive to de­velop tem­po­rary works for the City’s public spa­ces.
