Business winners going for a song

MEDIA personality James Valentine reckons Perth lawyers Judith Fordham and Steve Roash could take their successful firm to television.

Mr Roast has a background as a detective superintendent and Ms Fordham is a trial lawyer and forensic scientist, which makes Fordham & Roast a one-stop shop for clients with criminal law problems.

It also sounds like great fodder for an Australian crime drama series, as Valentine pointed out while he was MC at last week’s WA Telstra Business Awards.

Such a show could have entertainment value, if Ms Fordham’s speech while on stage accepting the micro business category award is anything to go by.

Borrowing a stage classic from Annie Get Your Gun and calling out the practises of other old-school legal firms, she broke into this tune:

“Anything you can do we can do cheaper, we can do anything better than you. Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can…”

Awards judges described Ms Fordham and Mr Roach as dynamic, passionate and engaging leaders and said their firm was a great niche business with strong financials, good leadership and morals, and one that was making a huge difference to people’s lives.
