Focus on helping others

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Business -

YOUTH Focus is giving women the tools to help loved ones through a Ladies Network that recently met for the second time.

About 60 women aged from 20 to 70 met at Fraser’s restaurant this month and learned about mental first aid from a Youth Focus psychologist.

Youth Focus chief executive Jenny Allen said the organisation recognised the important role women played in their families, with young people and their friends.

“It’s about educating, creating awareness and giving them the skill sets to help their family and friends and reduce the stigma,” Ms Allen said.

“We’re always looking for ways to engage meaningfully with our supporters and the broader community to share education and positive messages about how we can help our young people.

“The Ladies Network is a place for women to connect with each other and build new relationships while also learning more about how Youth Focus is helping stop youth suicide.”

City Beach resident Anne Richards, who lost her brother to suicide, chairs the group.

The next Ladies Network event will be in a couple of months. Visit www.youthfocus.com.au.
