Heritage listing: 8 objections

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Health -

THREE homes in Claremont – 16 Hammond Road, 16A Walter Street and 34 Servetus Street – will continue to be assessed for the Town’s reviewed schedule of heritage and historic places adopted by councillors this month.

In August last year, the council adopted an overall Local Government Inventory of buildings and sites with cultural heritage significance, in addition to the Schedule of Historic and Other Buildings and Places that provides protection.

It received 16 public submissions, of which eight objected to being on the list, three supported inclusion and two had no objections. The rest wanted more information.

Councillors agreed the homes on Hammond Road and Walter and Servetus streets be further investigated by a review panel.

A separate report will be provided about putting the Royal Agricultural Society on the list.
