EIGHT West Aus­tralian foot­ballers were in­ducted in to the WA Football Hall of Fame at the State Re­cep­tion Cen­tre last Wed­nes­day night.

John James Leonard, who was in­ducted in to the Hall of Fame in 2004, also be­came the 16th in­ductee el­e­vated to Leg­end sta­tus along­side Haydn Bun­ton Ju­nior, Barry Ca­ble, Ge­orge Doig, Graham ‘Polly’ Farmer, Stan ‘Pops’ Heal, De­nis Mar­shall, Phil Mat­son, Merv McIn­tosh, Steve Marsh, Ge­orge Moloney, Graham Moss, Jack Sheedy, John Todd, WJ ‘Nip­per’ Tr­us­cott and Bill Walker.

Leonard played 183 games; 146 for Su­bi­aco Football Club, 12 with South Mel­bourne and rep­re­sented WA 25 times.

He won a premier­ship with Su­bi­aco in 1924 and five as a coach for West Perth and Clare­mont be­tween 1934 and 1940.
