God condemns homosexuality
A CHURCH that endorses homosexuality is as meaningful as an anti-whaling organisation that says it is OK to hunt and eat whales (Priest’s blessing for gay marriage, Western Suburbs Weekly, July 14). It is no longer what it purports to be. How can priest Peter Manuel say same-sex attracted people are worthy of everything that heterosexual people are when God utterly condemns homosexuality and anyone who approves of it (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:25-32)?
He claims that the world will not stop moving if “gay marriage” is approved. Tell that to various business owners and some religious organisations in the US, Canada and Britain that were threatened or forced to close for not getting along with the homosexual bandwagon.
Jesus, citing Adam and Eve, specifically clarified what marriage is meant to be (Matthew 19:4-9): a lifelong union between one man and one woman. That means no divorce (unless someone is unfaithful), no homosexuality and no polygamy either.
The multiple marriages of King David and King Solomon were a case of disobeying the command not to have many wives (Deuteronomy 17:17). There was no endorsement of polygamy there.
However, since you brought it up, in the wake of the American Supreme Court decision, there is a Montana man who is now demanding equality to marry two wives.
What do you say about that? Are you going to endorse that too?
Moreover, since you also brought up the AIDS issue, health surveys in Australia and Britain continue to show high rates of deadly STIs amongst homosexuals.
Evidently, homosexuality is inherently unhealthy or at least they do not care about their own health. Why endorse self-destructive behaviour?
