Triple treat on stage

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Film -

IRISH Theatre Players return to the stage next month, following successful seasons of The Big Casino and Big Maggie.

A Festival of One Acts features three 45-minute works: W.A.G by Gemma Doorly, Over the Top by Rodney Quinn, and Darren Donohue’s Voices in the Rubble.

W.A.G. takes the popular acronym for ‘wives and girlfriends’ and is a black comedy looking at a football player’s infidelity.

Over the Top is set in World War I trenches, where four combatants from different backgrounds gradually reveal their reasons for being there.

Absurdist comedy Voices in the Rubble rounds out the trio by capturing the ‘insanity’ of married life.

Audiences will be treated to a complimentary drink on arrival and supper during the interval.

The season runs August 6-15 at Irish Club WA, Subiaco, with all proceeds from August 12 donated to charity The Claddagh Association Inc. Tickets at www.trybook
