Theatre company stops program

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

PERTH Theatre Company has announced an immediate stop to its 2015 program due to lack of funding.

The big season production Of Mice and Men, which was to star WAAPA graduate and Terminator Genisys actor Jai Courtney, and world premiere of yourseven have been withdrawn.

The company released a statement last week citing a slowing economy and lower-than-expected corporate and sponsorship support.

PTC chairman Saliba Sassine said it was a difficult decision to make. “We had hoped to have secured some major sponsors and did not,” he said.

“This meant the financial risk of proceeding far outweighed the potential benefits.

“The board decided

it was imperative not to risk the company, which will continue to operate.

“The challenge now is to not lose the vibrancy and energy that has been generated and to review strategic operations to allow Perth Theatre to continue as a sustainable theatre company.”

Ticketholders will be fully refunded. Contact Ticketek on 1300 795 012.
