Offender too often the hapless victim

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

AS commendable as the concept of evidence-based policing no doubt is, it counts for little in light of the fact that the West Australian judiciary has clearly taken the view that the victim of a crime is actually the offender and the poor, blameless offender is the hapless victim.

This is borne out by the grotesquely lenient “sentences” (or rewards, in reality) routinely handed down in our courts and the stubbornly high crime statistics provided by this and other publications. Graham Luke Mitchell,

West Leederville.
