THE long list of individuals, foundations and companies that have helped fund and support Youth Focus over the past 21 years reads like a family. There’s the family of WA Governors, including Ken Michael, Malcolm McCusker and Kerry Sanderson; Terry Evans, the brother of chief executive Jenny Allen and Chiu Chi and Mei Wen from the Hawaiian group who sponsor the annual Ride for Youth. Then there’s the family of schools such as Methodist and Presbyterian ladies’ colleges and Perth Modern School that shared their musical talent to help the non-profit celebrate its 21st birthday last week. Then Brooke Chapman engaged the audience with her story of how Youth Focus helped her through dark times in her life. When she had a brain tumour removed, it was Youth Focus co-founder Peter Fitzpatrick by her side offering words of support as well as other members of the non-profit’s family. Although there were 250 at the 21st birthday, they were all part of the Youth Focus family in some way.
